West Buckland is one of the leading independent co-educational schools in the West Country. Taking children from the ages of three to eighteen years, it has played an important role in the life of the people of North Devon and beyond for over 150 years. During this time the School has built up a strong tradition and a reputation for academic excellence.
Enjoying a beautiful 98-acre campus on the edge of Exmoor, the School is conveniently located half way between Barnstaple and South Molton. The Nursery is part of the Preparatory School for West Buckland.
Children entering the Nursery are in a safe, secure and homely atmosphere. The Nursery comprises a bright, cheerful classroom full of activities and equipment to inspire and excite the children. There is a warm, inviting book room, a playroom devoted to the topic of the moment and a large room specifically for sand, water and painting. There is access to a garden with a play house, sandpit and outdoor play equipment and also to an outside, covered area shared with the Reception class. The Nursery utilises its unique location by using the Preparatory School library, music room and Senior School swimming pool.
Our enthusiastic and experienced Nursery staff work closely together to ensure that children in their care receive first class experiences to maximise their potential. The Head of the Early Years in the Prep School is Mrs Cassy Steel, the Nursery Manager is Miss Hannah Roberts and the Deputy Manager is Mrs Holly Humphreyson. Together they ensure that high quality play activities make your child's first steps outside the home environment an exciting, memorable and valuable education.
